Announcing Sleight.School
Wow, that year went by fast! April 14, 2021, marks one year to the day that I gave my first online private lesson, and in doing so, gave flight to Sleight School.
Since then, I’ve had multiple sessions with almost 100 different students, totaling several hundred hours of instruction. And I’ve loved every minute of it!
For the last few decades, I’ve been on the road performing pretty much full time. This year at home has allowed me to reconnect with my home, my family, and in a way, with my passion for the art of magic. I have met so many wonderful people through the computer screen this year, and all at various stages along their magical journey. These meetings have rekindled my boyhood passion for magic. I find myself thinking about aspects of magic that, as a traveling pro, fell by the wayside in the grind of performing for a living.
I look forward to each and every session, not just because of the magic connection—it’s the human connection that keeps me interested.
The world is beginning to open up again and the road is calling, but I don’t want to give up teaching or slow down. I’ve decided to not only continue the private lesson program, I want to make it better and provide even more value. With that in mind, I’m launching Sleight.School as a new and separate entity and web site.
Sleight.School will be a membership-based site with loads of new content, connections, and coaching!
Once you create an account for $9 per month, you’ll be able to book a lesson at a $10 discount! The standard price for a lesson is currently $95, but from within the Sleight.School membership area, you can book a one-hour lesson for $85. You’ve just saved $1 for signing up. Of course, you can cancel the membership any time, but I’m hoping that the continuing benefits of remaining a member convince you to stay enrolled. Some of the benefits include:
Video Vault Page
Each private lesson is recorded in high quality and stored on your own private page to review. This page will only be accessible to current members. There will still be a shared Dropbox Paper doc assigned to you where your video sessions will also reside.
Williamson’s Wonders
My weekly blog is where I will be posting episodes with videos, tricks, moves, articles, interviews, stories, and other brain droppings. Think of it as your own private Magic Dave Show delivered weekly.
Boot Camp
Access my instructional videos for this ever-expanding course, teaching the fundamentals of sleight-of-hand.
Sleight Club
Our own internal message forum is where all members can post, share, and discuss topics of interest. A good forum with engaged contributors is an invaluable resource, and with the knowledge that I know is within this robust community, I’m excited to see it grow.
Discounts
Discounts are available on merchandise and future online lectures and workshops as well as the 5-for-4 Package Deal for lessons.
Jam Sessions
Access weekly Study Sessions and monthly Jam Sessions. Our monthly Jam Sessions have been great fun. These sessions are informal two-hour Zoom gathering, spanning various topics and featuring good-natured banter, information and idea sharing, and usually a surprise special guest!
You never know who might pop up in the future! In past Jams, Ben Earl, Shoot Ogawa, Chad Long, John Carney, Denis Behr, and Guy Hollingworth have dropped by. You never know who might pop up in the future.
In addition to the monthly Jam Session, join the weekly “brain-storming” Study Session. These sessions are one-hour Zoom meetings, focusing on a specific topic each week. The topic will be announced in advance (possibly by polling) to give all attendees time to think and prepare. The Study Sessions are recorded and posted for members.
I’d like to kick it off with a Study Session Tuesday, April 20th. And don’t forget our monthly Jam on Saturday, April 17th. I’ll post the details on the EVENTS page.
Of course, you can become a member without booking a lesson and start enjoying the benefits right now! I would like to get your feedback on the new Sleight.School web site and keep the conversations flowing on the Sleight Club Forum.
To that end, I’m happy to offer you two weeks of free access to Sleight.School to look around and try it out. You’ll need to join as a member. Use the discount code ERDNASE and pay nothing until May 1st when the $9 per month subscription fee kicks in. Cancel your subscription before May 1st. in the account menu if you don’t want the fee to kick in.
Once inside the members’ area, you can book a lesson at the discounted rate of $85. It is still possible to book a lesson at the $95 rate without being a member. But why would you, when for one dollar less, and you get a month of membership and all the benefits that go along with it? The 5 -or-4 Package Deal for lessons was previously available for $380. It is now only available to members but at the lower rate of $340.
Share this discount code with your friends who you think might like to check it out. The more, the merrier!
I hope you’ll drop in and check Sleight.School out. Please leave some feedback in the Forum and join us at the Jam Sessions… and thank you once again for a Magical Year!
